My name is Felix Gabriel Hernandez, but everyone calls me Gabriel. I started playing tennis at the early ages of 3-4 years old in Mallorca, Spain. My parents run a tennis programme in a large multi sports facility, so you could say both my parents (especially my mother) were my first coaches. I played tournaments competitively across Spain throughout my junior years, competing against some of the best junior players in the world.
I started coaching fifteen years ago in Spain and have since worked all over the globe. I first started helping out and running private lessons in hotels in Spain, followed by working in a Summer Camp in Maine, USA, as a counselor/tennis coach; a 2 year stint in Cape Town, South Africa running the performance programme for competitive juniors travelling around the country.
I've also coached in Uruguay, Greece and Singapore, as well as New Zealand (2007/08)! In 2010 I was the Head Coach at one of the best member’s club in Bangkok, Thailand, heading up all the activities/programmes related to tennis, coaching some of the best players in the country.
I currently hold the 'Performance' coaching level for the PTR Tennis Professional qualification (Spanish coaching qualification) and Level C of the GPTCA Accredited Tennis International Coach qualifications.
I'm super excited to be coming back to coach in New Zealand, and hoping to make a positive, long lasting impression not only for my clients but also for the whole club itself.
