Over the course of the weekend, the top 5 New Zealand under 16 female players battled it out on court in a round robin for a spot in the WTA Future Stars Tournament.
Vivian Yang (left), one of only two Tennis NZ targeted athletes, is coached by Kiwi Tennis Director Sheridan Adams, and at age 13 is looking to be the future of tennis in New Zealand. Without dropping a set against players up to 3 years older than her, Vivian took out the competition undefeated, earning her spot in Singapore.
The WTA Future Stars tournament gathers some of the top juniors from the region to compete during the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global, with the final being played on Center Court. These aspiring U-14 and U-16 players will compete against some of their best peers in the region and also enjoy the opportunity to watch the biggest stars of the WTA in action.
Congratulations Vivian from all the Kiwi Tennis family!
