The Te Awamutu Tennis Club is located in the Victoria Park Complex next to the Te Awamutu Primary School on Teasdale Street, Te Awamutu.

This is now the main club in the Te Awamutu area with most of the small rural clubs having closed.

We have 3 Astroturf courts with lights and 4 public concrete courts that adjoin the main complex and clubhouse.
We cater to everyone’s tennis abilities from beginners through to experienced players.

Book Online for Junior Tennis

The red ball is larger than a yellow ball and doesn’t bounce as high (just 25% compression), making it a breeze for even the youngest players to hit comfortably. The courts and nets used in the Red stage are much smaller making it easier for kids to move around and enjoy success. Red level players may be beginners, improvers or even advanced players.

After mastering the Red stage, children move on to the Orange stage where the ball bounces a little higher (50% compression) and the court is a bit bigger. Orange players play over the regular net on a three quarter length court.

The ball used in the Green stage has a higher compression than the Red and Orange stages (75% of a yellow tennis ball) and children play on a full-size court.

The programme will be on more advanced stroke techniques, including topspin and slice, movement and rally patterns, as well as point play. A great step towards matches and interclub.

Tennis Xpress is a worldwide ITF programme catering for beginner adults taking a ‘serve, rally, score’ approach to learning. The programme is a fun, innovative way of teaching tennis which removes many of the barriers associated with learning the sport. All the basic techniques, singles and doubles tactics and movement patterns are covered in this course.

If you want to get involved in high pace, high intensity, fun workouts, then Cardio Tennis is the activity for you. This session will keep you on your toes, completing a tough cardio workout whilst engaging in great core stability and overall fitness. A fantastic class for you to improve your fitness whilst having a great time.
