Born into a tennis-playing family, Pete was introduced to the sport at just six years old. With both his grandfather and uncle having won the British National Father & Son title twice and represented Great Britain in international competition, tennis was in his blood. Pete’s enthusiasm for the game quickly showed — he represented Somerset in every age group, became men’s county champion at just 15, qualified for national junior championships at Wimbledon and Bournemouth, and competed for Somerset in regional and senior county events while still a junior.

Pete trained under the AASE scheme at the South West Tennis Academy before earning a place at Bath University, where he combined a BA in Sport and Social Sciences with training at an LTA International High Performance Centre. Alongside competing in British Tour and international events, he began coaching at Lansdown Tennis Centre, an experience that shaped his philosophy of blending technical foundations with match play awareness and tactical development.

A placement year in New Zealand led Pete to a role as performance coach at Cambridge Racquets Club, sparking a long-term connection with the country. After graduating in 2013, he returned as Head Coach at Hamilton Squash & Tennis Club, where he established a thriving development and performance programme. From just seven players, the programme has grown to more than 800 players weekly across 16 venues. His leadership has helped elevate tennis in the Waikato region, earning him the Waikato Coach of the Year award on multiple occasions.

More recently, Pete has coached players to national titles and supported numerous athletes in securing US college scholarships — a reflection of his commitment to creating opportunities and pathways for players at every level.

Today, as Director and Head Coach of Kiwi Tennis, Pete continues to lead programmes that inspire growth, achievement, and a lifelong love of the game.
