Oskar Williams
Relief Coach
Oskar first picked up a racquet at the age of seven after being inspired by watching the ASB Classic in Auckland. From there, his passion for tennis only grew under the guidance of excellent coaching and mentoring. His playing journey took him from a small country club in Hairini to squads at Cambridge Racquets Club and the Waikato Tennis Academy, where he went on to represent both his school and club in numerous regional and national competitions.
Oskar began his coaching career in 2017 while completing a degree in Sport and Exercise Science. Starting as an assistant in Hotshots and Schools programmes, he quickly developed his skills under the mentorship of award-winning coaches. After graduating in 2018, he stepped into a full-time coaching role with Kiwi Tennis, where his responsibilities grew to include regional squads, invitational Hotshots programmes, and leadership of Waikato Thames Valley junior representative teams. His impact was recognised multiple times when he was named Waikato-Thames Valley Coach of the Year. Oskar also served as Tournament Organiser for the Waikato Graded Tournaments from 2020-2024, further contributing to the region’s tennis community.
After six years coaching full-time, Oskar transitioned into a career as a primary school teacher. However, his passion for the game remains strong, and whenever Kiwi Tennis is short-staffed, Oskar is always the first person the team calls. Ever dependable, he continues to bring a wealth of coaching expertise, teaching experience, and enthusiasm for developing players of all ages.
